Arsenal: Thomas Partey ready to return in huge injury boost, Mikel Arteta confirms

Thomas Partey is ready to make his comeback for Arsenal when they travel to Sheffield United on Monday.

The midfielder has been out of action since October after injuring his thigh in training.

Partey has returned to training and has been able to take part in multiple sessions this week.

Mikel Arteta is now hoping that the Ghana international could be part of the squad when Arsenal face Sheffield United on Monday night.

“Thomas had a session before the last game and now he’s done two or three consecutive sessions,” said Arteta. “He should be part of the squad on Monday.”

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both out with calf injuries, with a late call to be made on them before Monday.

“Those [players] it’s possible but we’ll have to wait and see,” said Arteta. “Especially in the last two sessions on Saturday and Sunday. If that’s the case they might be available on Monday.”

Gabriel Jesus is back in training and was an unused substitute for Saturday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.

The Brazilian has been struggling with a knee injury, but Arteta is hoping he can be back and firing soon.

Jurrien is still not close enough to be part of the squad on Monday

“What happened is he got a knock in another area that caused a different kind of injury, so it wasn’t related to the first one,” he said. “And then he had a little niggle, it was a muscle issue that kept him for 10 days out.

"He’s fit enough. How long he will last that’s something different. We didn’t want to take any risks after the result we had against Newcastle.

“We need him fit, he’s a massive player for us and now we want to make sure we load him in the right way.”

Jurrien Timber has begun being integrated into first-team training, but he is not ready to play yet.

“Jurrien is still not close enough to be part of the squad on Monday,” said Arteta.
