Arsenal sweat on Leandro Trossard injury as Mikel Arteta admits fresh fitness blow is a ‘worry’

Arsenal face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injury suffered by Leandro Trossard against Bournemouth, with Mikel Arteta admitted “it is a worry”.

Trossard was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 win at Emirates Stadium.

The £27million January signing pulled up when he was tracking back after a corner and is a fresh injury concern for Arsenal ahead of a busy run of games this month.

Trossard has made an immediate impact at Arsenal and was used as a false nine against Bournemouth, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah both sidelined.

He will be assessed by Arsenal medics but Arteta is concerned about his fitness, and losing the 28-year-old would be a blow as Arsenal bid to stay clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal play Sporting in the Europa League on Thursday before travelling to Fulham on Sunday. The clash with Sporting is the first of four games in 10 days for the Gunners before the upcoming international break

“It is a worry,” said Arteta, whose side came from two goals down against Bournemouth to win with a 97th-minute goal from Reiss Nelson.

“He came to me straight away and told me he could not continue because he had felt something when he was tracking back after the corner. We have to assess him and see how he is.”
