Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli speaks out over future amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has revealed his ambition is to remain at Arsenal for his 'whole life' and fight for trophies.

The 20-year-old has emerged as a rumoured transfer target for Liverpool in recent months, with speculation intensifying following comments made by Jurgen Klopp.

Addressing the talent of the Brazilian star after the Reds faced off against the Gunners in their Carabao Cup semi-final tie, the German said: "Martinelli by the way, everybody should remember that name because he's an outstanding player.

"Little Martinelli, we will talk about this player in the future – I can promise. Without injuries, major injuries, Martinelli will have a proper career."

Martinelli would certainly be an effective option for Liverpool if signed, though the youngster sees his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

“We have a young group, we have a lot of time ahead of us, players with a lot of quality, I think we will achieve great things.

"Our focus is the Champions League. Fighting for that top four. A club like Arsenal has to be in the Champions League. It’s our total focus," he told ESPN Brasil.

“We always want more. Of course, Arsenal are a giant team. If I can, I’ll stay here my whole life. I want to conquer things, as I said, I want to stay here and win titles, with these wonderful fans, my teammates.”

Injury setbacks have halted the progress being made by the Arsenal star since he joined the club in 2019 from second tier Brazilian side, Ituano.

Making the transition to the Premier League is never a straightforward task for players moving from a different country, though this is a challenge Martinelli has embraced.

“It was a giant leap for me. I was at Ituano, I lived in Itu, and I came to play at Arsenal, living in London," he said of his transfer to the Gunners.

"It was a little complicated, but my family was always with me, they always helped me at all times, off and on the pitch as well."
