Arsenal 'step up interest' in £58m Dusan Vlahovic alternative & join Liverpool in transfer race

Arsenal have backed themselves into a corner in the January transfer window as they risk exiting the month with fewer options than they started.

Mikel Arteta's side have been on the hunt for new recruits but have been unable to draft them so far, though they haven't halted approving departures in the process.

That has left them with plenty to do and not much time to do it, though the rumours continue to come thick and fast.

Arsenal's hunt for a striker orientated around Dusan Vlahovic but, with the Fiorentina man edging towards Juventus, alternatives are being eyed - and Gazzetta has named Napoli's Victor Osimhen as a target.

The Nigerian has been touted with a move to mega-rich Newcastle United but Arsenal's name has now been thrown into the mix for a signing that would be costly.

It's stated Napoli will demand around €70million (£58million) for the 22-year-old, who has attracted interest from Europe's elite ever since his days with Lille.

Elsewhere, FootMercato states Arsenal have joined Manchester City and Liverpool in the chase for PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.

Ten goals and 10 assists this season have seen Gakpo attract significant interest in the market, with Arsenal the latest to eye a move.

Finally, the Daily Star says AC Milan have made an approach to Arsenal for former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but have been rocked by his demands.

It's claimed Aubameyang is demanding double the wages paid to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is the highest earner at the club on £120,000-per-week.
