Arsenal stars could get Emirates Stadium farewell vs Wolves ahead of summer transfer window

Arsenal's last game of the 2023/24 Premier League season against Wolves promises to be an emotional one, particularly when the final whistle blows.

Mainly because there are strong indications that it will turn out to be an Emirates Stadium farewell for several first-team players with many set to follow in the footsteps of Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Hector Bellerin and Bernd Leno who all departed permanently over the course of last summer.

Of course, as soon as the campaign is wrapped up attentions will turn to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar overseeing plenty of business when the transfer window opens to ensure the squad can cope with the demands of Champions League football next season as well as challenging for the Premier League title again.

But whilst links to West Ham United captain Declan Rice continue to grow as well as talk of Moises Caicedo, Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan among plenty of others being recruited, it's likely there will be a host of senior players leaving in order to freshen up the squad.

Now, a year ago when the Gunners took on Everton on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign, the futures of Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, and Mohamed Elneny had yet to be decided as they entered the final five weeks of their deals in north London.

That's unlikely to be the case on Sunday as despite Reiss Nelson's contract expiring at the end of June, football.london understands that an agreement over a new four-year deal is in place and therefore the Hale End graduate will be back next season barring a last-minute change of heart.

With that said, there are at least four Arsenal players, not including members of this season's loan army, that could make their final appearance for the club against Wolves and bid an emotional farewell during the end-of-season lap of appreciation.

This includes Thomas Partey who is said to be attracting interest from Italy, Kieran Tierney having fallen behind Oleksandr Zinchenko in the pecking order at left-back this season and Emile Smith Rowe who has been used sparingly by Arteta throughout the campaign.

Although, it should be pointed out those potential exits are just speculation at this point and that the only senior player who is almost certain to be bidding farewell to the Emirates Stadium faithful is Granit Xhaka as football.london understands he is in advanced talks over a £13m transfer to Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
