Arsenal star Leandro Trossard's dismissive response to Man City title race question

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard insists the mood in the Gunners' camp has not shifted after they once again moved five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

City closed the gap to Mikel Arteta's men on Saturday evening when an Erling Haaland penalty secured a valuable three points against Crystal Palace. With the pressure on Arsenal, all eyes were on the leaders to see how they would respond.

Unfortunately for Blues fans, the Gunners didn't falter. The Premier League's pacesetters blew their opponents away in the first 45 minutes to secure a comfortable win. Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard were on the scoresheet as Marco Silva's side were put to the sword in a 3-0 win.

But Trossard said no-one of an Arsenal persuasion is getting ahead of themselves in the race for the title. When asked by Sky Sports how it felt to move five points clear again, the winger dismissed the feat as just a small battle won in a war.

"How does that sound? Same as last week," he said. "It’s 11 finals for us, we take it game-by-game. Like I said last week we have done really well to come back from a difficult position, today we did it different and it’s also about us keeping clean sheets as well, I think.

"Today we did a great game but we keep it to zero and you only need to score one - today was three and we’re really happy with that, like I said we’ll take it game-by-game moving forward." Next up for City is a couple of distractions from the league campaign.

Pep Guardiola's team face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night before they welcome Vincent Kompany's Burnley in the FA Cup on Saturday.
