Arsenal star delivers verdict on £45m Gabriel Jesus transfer with Instagram message

Arsenal are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with Manchester City for a deal to bring Gabriel Jesus to the club.

After announcing moves for Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner, the Brazil international is expected to be the Gunners' next confirmed transfer and he could also be handed the perfect gift of the number 9 shirt upon completing all the formalities following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette.

Furthermore, the arrival of Gabriel Jesus will bolster Arsenal's attacking options which already include Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and compatriot Gabriel Martinelli. Meanwhile, he could also be joined by Raphinha if scheduled talks with Leeds progress well in the coming days.

Once the deal is officially confirmed, Gabriel Jesus can turn his attention to potentially making his non-competitive Gunners debut against Nurnberg next week - of course, that is if he is named by manager Mikel Arteta for the pre-season training camp which is being held in Germany.

With that said, the seemingly imminent signing of the 25-year-old is one that has already garnered excitement amongst the fanbase - with a brilliant unveiling video concept proposed - and apparently one Arsenal player in particular as right-back Cedric Soares has taken to social media to deliver his verdict on the transfer.

On Instagram, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted a mock-up image of Gabriel Jesus in a Gunners shirt with the caption that read: "Gabriel Jesus joins Arsenal on a permanent deal, it’s now 100% done and completed: here we go! Gabriel Jesus will sign until June 2027 as new Arsenal player, his main priority since long time - deal is now all completed and 100% done.

"Man City already accepted the final proposal for £45m guaranteed fee received from Arsenal, as revealed here on Friday. Arsenal will announce Gabriel as the third signing after Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira… and then it's absolutely not over yet."

And, as seen in the screenshot below, the aforementioned Cedric has seemingly given his approval to the deal by liking the picture as he prepares to welcome the latest addition to the first-team squad at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite Gabriel Jesus' versatility which allows him to play across the front three, Arsenal being linked with Raphinha as well as being well-stocked in the wide areas means he is likely to be predominantly be used as a centre-forward next season and it's clear what he must do to fulfil Arteta's idea of the perfect striker.

"He puts the ball in the net, that's priority number one," the Spaniard said when asked to define the dream number nine in his system. "Goal threat. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing. You can play good football, but you need enough goal threat in the team.

"The other thing is that he has to complement the other people we have, personally and on the pitch, and for that, we need the right profile. We need a profile where you can exploit his qualities at the same time as the qualities we already have, so we don't have to transform our way of playing again to adapt to that specific player.

"He has to have a certain age, a certain level of experience, and he has to be able to come here and play under the pressure of being at Arsenal."
