Arsenal show how they view Mikel Arteta compared to Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola

Arsenal are set to offer manager Mikel Arteta a new three-year contract this summer.

It's believed the fresh deal will be worth £8.3million per year, the same salary Arsene Wenger was receiving when he left the Emirates in 2018.

Arteta's current wage is thought to be around £5m per year - around £96,000-a-week - seeing him receive a 60 per cent increase.

But even with his new pay rise, Arteta will still be earning far less than Manchester City boss and former mentor Pep Guardiola, who reportedly pockets £20m per year.

It's thought Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham coach Antonio Conte both receive £15m per year, while Leicester's Brendan Rodgers is taking him £10m per year.

Will Mikel Arteta lead Arsenal back to the top? Let us know in the comments below!

Arteta, 39, has just 16 months remaining on his existing contract but, as reported by The Sun, Arsenal's hierarchy don't want to lose the Premier League's youngest manager.

And whilst it is clear they do not yet see him as worth the same sort of wage as a proven managerial star such as Pep Guardiola, it is apparent they believe he holds plenty of value and is the man to take them forwards.

The Spaniard has done an impressive job since his arrival at the Emirates in December 2019, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

The Gunners also have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season for the first time since 2015-16.

Arteta's side are currently sixth in the Premier League, four points behind Manchester United in fourth with three games in hand.

Arsenal can close that gap on Thursday evening when they welcome Wolves - who are also in the hunt for Champions League football - to the Emirates.

"The detail the gaffer goes into is completely different to what I’ve come across before," said Arsenal defender Ben White in December.

"The way he demands you to do stuff and the way he says stuff and the detail he goes into is really important and it’s helping me massively.

"I’ve had a few managers and I’d say his man-management is the best I’ve been under. Every player is different and needs different things, and he definitely understands that."

Arteta, though, is still a long way from matching his contemporaries' achievements.

Wenger is the greatest manager in Arsenal's history, winning three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and seven Community Shields.

He also reached the final of the Champions League, UEFA Cup and League Cup thrice with the Gunners. And he won the French title with Monaco.

Guardiola, meanwhile, is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in the history of the game following his spells at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now Man City.

The Spaniard has won nine league titles, nine domestic cups, five domestic super cups, two Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups.

In regards to some of the Premier League's other big earners, Klopp has won nine trophies - including the Champions League - with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

Conte has won eight trophies - including four league titles - with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan.

And Rodgers has won nine trophies, seven of which were with Celtic in Scotland. Most recently, he guided Leicester to FA Cup and Community Shield success.
