Arsenal set to complete Marquinhos transfer amid optimism over Eddie Nketiah contract solution

Arsenal are hopeful of wrapping up a deal for Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos in the coming days, while there is also confidence that Eddie Nketiah’s contract situation will finally be resolved.

The Gunners have agreed a fee of around £3million for 19-year-old winger Marquinhos and are now working through his visa. Once the final stages of that process are complete, the Brazilian teenager will officially join and link up with Mikel Arteta’s squad for pre-season.

He is expected to go on tour to the United States in July, after which a decision will be made as to whether or not he is loaned out for next season. Fears over a potential legal battle with Wolves over Marquinhos’ signature appear to have cooled, meanwhile.

As well as Marquinhos, the Gunners are also expected to resolve Nketiah’s contract saga in the coming days. Arsenal publicly confirmed on Friday that they have offered the striker a new deal and it is understood there is optimism that it will be signed soon.

Arsenal are in the market for a striker this summer and Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City is their top target. Alexandre Lacazette rejoined Lyon earlier this week after being allowed to depart the Emirates at the end of his contract.

Arsenal confirmed on Friday morning that youngsters Jonathan Dinzeyi, Joel Lopez and Jordan McEneff will also be leaving after their own deals expired.
