Arsenal appear close to securing their second signing of the January transfer window in the coming days, with Jakub Kiwior on the brink of a potential move. The versatile defender has impressed at just 22 years old with Serie A side Spezia, offering quality in depth to the Gunners in a deal said to be worth roughly £17.5million.
A move for the Poland international would show quick progression in the window after a slower start to the month. Mykhailo Mudryk was the first option, but the side missed out to rivals Chelsea to land the winger, opting for Brighton's Leandro Trossard as an alternative.
"We are really happy to have him," Mikel Arteta said on the incoming Belgian forward. "He’s a player we followed for a while. The opportunity came and we had the necessity for a player in the front line who is versatile enough to play different positions. He knows the league, he has enough experience here and I think he can have an immediate impact on the team."

With Kiwior appearing as a target linked shortly after landing Trossard, the manager was also quizzed on his potential arrival, but he was tight-lipped on the situation as usual, responding: "We cannot talk about players that we haven’t finalised. When that’s the case we can announce it."
However, it has been reported that medical tests were held over the weekend ahead of a switch, with the plan to having the defender in attendance for the clash with Manchester United. That was the case as Kiwior was spotted in the crowd at the Emirates ahead of the game.
It remains to be seen when a transfer will be announced, however it shows the quick work conducted by the recruitment team and leaves them time before the end of the window to get further deals over the line.
