Arsenal's 'perfect' star deemed far better option than Chelsea's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Gabriel Jesus is superior to Chelsea's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal star, who has hit the ground running in red and white, replaced Aubameyang as the Gunners' foremost frontman this summer.

Aubameyang was stripped of the Gunners' captaincy last November and later completed an ugly late transfer to La Liga giants Barcelona. His move to Spain was short lasted, though, as the Gabonese striker eventually moved to Arsenal's London rivals Chelsea on Deadline Day in early September.

On the other hand, following Erling Haaland's summer switch to Manchester City, Jesus moved to north London. The Brazil international has hit the ground running in red and white and is already a fan favourite at the Emirates stadium. Having scored 5 goals in the Premier League already, Jesus is one of the most in-form strikers in the Premier League and his leadership has helped guide the Gunners to the top of the table after just eight games.

Whilst Aubameyang has found the net in his last two games, Chelsea are already eight points behind the Gunners. Some, including Agbonlahor, think that's largely down to Jesus' early season contributions.

Comparing the two on TalkSPORT, via HITC, he said: “I think he will do well, but he went to Chelsea because of Thomas Tuchel. Imagine going to the club and the manager is sacked after one game? He might think ‘Is Potter going to want me? Will he listen to my time at Arsenal? About being late and being this flash footballer?’ But he deserves a chance.

“I don’t think long-term he will be the solution, but until Potter brings in a number nine he wants, then he will get you goals. Arsenal have moved on. They have got one of the best strikers around in Gabriel Jesus.

On who he would pick at their peak: “Jesus. You know what because Jesus offers the whole package. He scores goals, drops off and gets involved in the play. Then he is one of the hardest-working players on the pitch. Tracking back. Hunting defenders. He’s the perfect striker for a manager.”

It's a debate that Arsenal and Chelsea fans are going to take part in over the next couple of seasons at least and it'll ultimately be interesting to see how the two get on moving forward.
