Arsenal will need to strengthen in the wing positions ahead of the next campaign to become a real threat when on the attack. The emphasis on signing a winger will strengthen if Nicolas Pepe also decides to depart from the club.

Mikel Arteta has been given an excellent opportunity to sign a top winger after it has emerged that Villareal’s Arnaut Danjuma will be available for a transfer in the summer. According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, the Dutchman has interest from Premier League clubs.

Arsenal could certainly be one of these teams who have registered interest, as Spanish news outlet Fichajes reported earlier in the season that the Gunners had been keeping their eye on the player. The winger would certainly be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal.

A deal for Danjuma will not be easy however, as according to GOAL, Liverpool are also interested in signing him . They see the winger as a natural replacement for Sadio Mane and may even wait until 2023 to make their move. This comes after it was reported that the Reds were also monitoring the progress of Serge Gnabry according to the Daily Mail.

Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery signed Danjuma from Bournemouth in the summer for a £13.5m fee, and he has gone on to be a major success for the Yellow Submarine. The Dutch international has scored six goals in nine Champions League appearances this campaign.

The winger caught the attention of the footballing world after his goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League first-leg quarter-final that gave Villareal a surprise 1-0 advantage going into the reverse fixture. The Dutchman has thrived since making a summer move, which is down to the system Emery uses.

It is due to his excellent performances this season that Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in the forward. Danjuma admitted his desire to return to the England as he said via Sky Sports: “There is definitely unfinished business for me in England. Because if you look back at the reason to why I joined Bournemouth, it initially was for me to play Premier League football."

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Danjuma has a £38m release clause in his contract, which is an absolute steal for the Gunners. If Pepe does depart from the club, then it is certainly a deal that Arteta should look to pursue,
