The reason Manchester City were happy to let Gabriel Jesus join Arsenal was because they had their own marquee signing arriving at the club. Jesus, who was never truly a regular starter at City, was going to see his minutes reduced even more after Erling Haaland arrived at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal nipped in and signed Jesus for £45 million from their Premier League rivals. The Brazilian has been in scintillating form for Arsenal, claiming four goals and three assists in his first seven appearances for the club. His numbers are impressive, but City don't appear to be missing his presence too much, as Haaland has scored 11 goals in the same number of games.
However, despite Haaland's superior numbers, Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Arsenal recruiting Jesus is proving to be a better signing than Pep Guardiola bringing the Norwegian goal machine to City. Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor was asked who he believes was the best signing a Premier League side made this summer, and he thinks Jesus has proved to be a better addition than any other player.

"The best signing is Gabriel Jesus," Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. "Haaland has been outstanding, but City have always done well without Haaland. They've scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.
"Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They have a striker now who doesn't labour when he's pressing defenders."
Agbonlahor was also asked for his surprise package of the Premier League season so far. Despite impressive starts from the likes of Brighton and Fulham - both of whom currently sit in European places - the ex-Villa forward has been more surprised by the Gunners than any other side. Arsenal are top of the Premier League with six wins from their first seven games.
"I'm going to say Arsenal," he said.
"Last season, to miss out on the top four, and then for Arteta to get them on it this season. Arsenal, for me, are guaranteed to finish top four. I'd put anything on it. Guaranteed."
