Arsenal's Folarin Balogun sends three-word message after Middlesbrough shock Tottenham in FA Cup

Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun has taken to social media following his Middlesbrough side's 1-0 victory over Tottenham in the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old striker, who is currently on loan at Boro from the Gunners, came on 75 minutes into the match at the Riverside, with the game level at 0-0.

The match remained goalless after normal time and went to extra-time, with the hosts snatching the winning goal on 107 minutes through Josh Coburn, who thumped the ball past a helpless Hugo Lloris.

The win for the Championship side means they have now beaten Manchester United and Spurs in the last two rounds as their FA Cup dream continues.

Balogun, taking to Instagram after the game, posted an image of himself celebrating with his Boro team-mates, with the simple three-word caption of: "What a night!".

The striker also took to Twitter to aim a bit of a dig at Spurs, saying: "Big result against familiar rivals".

The Arsenal loanee, who is very well regarded at the Emirates Stadium, has played 10 times for Boro in all competitions since moving to the Riverside in January, but is yet to get off the mark for his temporary club.

Balogun, though, is clearly confident in his own ability, as seen below, so this should not have too much of an impact on his mindset.

Speaking last summer, the striker insisted he could meet the supporters' high expectations: "I don't see pressure as a negative - it is a privilege. It is always a good opportunity to show people what you can do.

"I am really happy that the fans are helping me, supporting me and it is nice to know that they have expectations of me because I am confident that I can meet them."

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Balogun and revealed that Arsenal have a "clear project" for the youngster back in October of last year.

The Gunners boss said: "Again, with Flo we have a really clear project. The steps that he’s making, they are the right steps.

"Don't forget he is really young, he has not played almost any professional football, and you need to go through every phase - and do not try to jump phases when you are not ready to do so.

"Again I’m really happy with him, he’s making the right progress and in December we will see where we are and what’s the best for him as well."

Balogun is expected to join back with the Arsenal squad for pre-season at the end of his loan spell, with the striker possibly in line for more football in the next campaign, depending on what the Gunners do in the summer transfer window.
