Arsenal's Ben White spotted in England World Cup feature after shock Gareth Southgate decision

Arsenal star Ben White featured in England's kit reveal video but was bizarrely left out of the 28-man squad for the international break.

The Gunners sit top of the table as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures throughout October, with White playing a key role in defence for Mikel Arteta's side. Takehiro Tomiyasu's struggles with injury left Arsenal light at right-back but the former Brighton man has filled in exceptionally well and been one of the unsung heroes during the Gunners' start to the season.

Despite White's stellar form for the north London outfit, England boss Gareth Southgate took the decision to snub the 24-year-old from his 28-man squad for games against Italy and Germany. White has remained at the club's training ground to train ahead of a huge clash against Tottenham after the international break.

Southgate took the bizarre decision to retain Harry Maguire as part of his England squad in the final international break ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year. The Manchester United captain hasn't been a regular feature for Erik ten Hag's side yet was selected ahead of White despite the Arsenal man's fine form so far this campaign.

England players posed in the Three Lions' kit set to be worn during the World Cup in Qatar later this year with White featuring in the photoshoot alongside the likes of Jack Grealish, Mason Mount and Declan Rice. However, the 24-year-old's inclusion seems a strange one considering Southgate opted not to include White in the final squad pre-World Cup.

The video on England's YouTube channel shows White posing for photos in the home and away strip but it is looking unlikely that the Gunners' defender will even be a part of the tournament after missing out on the chance to impress Southgate one last time before he decides on his final squad. White is facing an uphill battle to displace the likes of Maguire, Conor Coady and Luke Shaw who look set to be included ahead of the 24-year-old for the tournament in November.
