Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale named world’s most valuable goalkeeper ahead of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alisson

Aaron Ramsdale is the world’s most valuable goalkeeper, according to the well-respected CIES Football Observatory.

Established in 1995 and jointly owned by FIFA, the Swiss city of Neuchatel, and the University of Neuchatel, CIES (The International Centre for Sports Studies) is an independent research initiative which produces statistical studies on football and occasionally other sports.

The model they use to determine a player’s theoretical transfer value is based on a number of key factors, including the player’s form, record, age, and the years they have left on their contract.

It was only three weeks ago that Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale, 25, penned a new four-year £120,000-a-week contract for the Gunners — for whom he played so well this season as they sat top of the Premier League table for 248 days before eventually being pipped by Manchester City.

According to CIES and with that new long-term contract in mind, Ramsdale’s transfer value right now is £67.6million, making him the most valuable shot-stopper on the planet.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is second behind Ramsdale, with a value of £64.7m. Liverpool’s Alisson (£57.4m), Diogo Costa of Porto (£56.1m) and Manchester City’s Ederson (£48.9m) make up the top five.
