Arsenal rivalled for Takehiro Tomiyasu alternative as Dusan Vlahovic aims sly transfer dig

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Wednesday, February 2.

Spurs rival Arsenal for ideal Tomiyasu alternative

According to the Evening Standard, Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey is expected to be one of Tottenham Hotspur's targets for the summer.

The rapid right-back has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium - especially as they search for competition for Takehiro Tomiyasu - but he's now apparently being targeted by the Gunners' bitter rivals.

Spurs signed Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur on deadline day, and Antonio Conte wants to further strengthen his squad in the months to come.

Aubameyang exit confirmed

Arsenal have confirmed the departure of former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the striker looking set to join Barcelona.

The La Liga club still need to sort out some formalities until they can officially confirm the signing of the 32-year-old, football.london understands.

A statement from Arsenal read: "Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left the club by mutual agreement.

"Auba joined us from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first full season in 2018/19. He scored both goals in the 2020 FA Cup final win over Chelsea, and scored again at Wembley as we won the FA Community Shield against Liverpool at the start of last season."

Vlahovic aims sly dig

Dusan Vlahovic has said that the decision to sign for Juventus was an "easy choice" amid Arsenal's transfer interest in the 22-year-old.

"I am thrilled and proud to have signed with Juventus. A glorious club. I am ready to give my best for the team and obtain great results. I want to thank Juventus President and all the people that brought me here," Vlahovic said during his unveiling press conference, via Football Italia.

"There were many rumours about foreign clubs, but the choice was easy because the club and I have a similar DNA. Fight and suffer when needed. I think it’s part of my mentality as well, so the choice was not difficult."
