Arsenal ‘reach agreement’ with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus as £45million deal nears completion

Arsenal are now believed to have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian has been a top target for Mikel Arteta this window, who is desperate to add a striker to the squad following the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the last six months.

Tottenham and Chelsea have also been linked with Jesus in recent weeks, with boths club able to offer Champions League football.

But it’s become apparent that the Gunners have been front-runners in the race to sign the Brazilian and The Athletic reports that Arsenal and City have reached a deal over a £45million move.

The move is not yet done, with it some details including personal terms still being worked on, but it is expected that Jesus will make the move to join up with Arteta again, after working with the Spaniard when the pair were at City.

Jesus is set to be the latest arrival in a busy summer at the Emirates, with Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira brought in and Matt Turner joining up with the squad in a move that was announced in February.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphinha are among the other players still linked with Arsenal, though as with Jesus they face competition from Premier League rivals for the pair.

Ajax defender Martinez is believed to be a Manchester United target, with Erik ten Hag keen to be reunited with the 24-year-old, while Tottenham and Chelsea both have interest in Leeds winger Raphinha.
