Arsenal predicted XI vs Sevilla: Saliba starts as Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus handed home debuts

After a two-year absence, the Emirates Cup returns on Saturday afternoon as Arsenal complete their pre-season schedule against Sevilla.

This is the final step - unless another friendly is pencilled in early next week - in the Gunners' preparations for the 2022/23 campaign which begins in six days time with a short trip across the capital to face Crystal Palace in the opening game of the brand new Premier League season.

What should fill Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with confidence are the results and performances during pre-season, as they recorded wins over Ipswich Town, Nurnberg, Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea - scoring 19 goals in the process with a number of players catching the eye too.

In fact, the only blemish was the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford in a behind-closed-doors friendly at London Colney on Wednesday afternoon where, admittedly, the Spaniard did name a rather weakened team as the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all missed out.

Furthermore, Arteta's decisions in Arsenal's last two friendlies may serve as a hint as to what line-up he will select against Sevilla.

Aaron Ramsdale should take over from Matt Turner in between the sticks and the defensive unit in front of him could be the same one that started the 4-0 win over Chelsea, with Benjamin White getting the nod at right-back as Takehiro Tomiyasu is slowly eased in following fitness concerns during pre-season.

This allows William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes to continue building an understanding in central defence and despite Kieran Tierney returning to training this week, £30m summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko should make his unofficial home debut by lining up at left-back.

Unless Arsenal technical director Edu has a surprise up his sleeve and the club announces the signing of Youri Tielemans or Lucas Paqueta before kick-off, the midfield trio effectively picks itself with Thomas Partey at the base of a 4-3-3 formation and Odegaard and Granit Xhaka operating as two 'eights'.

Upon sealing his £45m transfer from Manchester City at the beginning of the month, an excited Gabriel Jesus immediately looked ahead to making his non-competitive Arsenal home debut: "I'm so excited to play here at the Emirates Cup against Sevilla on July 30," he said.

After an impressive pre-season and overcoming an injury scare against Chelsea, the Brazilian is in line to be granted his wish where he could be joined in attack by Saka and compatriot Gabriel Martinelli.
