Arsenal poised for Serge Gnabry return but handed huge Cody Gakpo PSV transfer problem

Arsenal’s 2021/22 campaign has come to a close, with Mikel Arteta’s men finishing fifth and missing out on Champions League football. That means that, while European football is back on the cards, Europa League will be the competition the Gunners will play in.

The squad were pushed all the way until the final game of the season, though a lack of squad depth was a huge factor in missing out on the top four. The summer provides a chance to address that for Arteta, heading into the next campaign.

Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates as the Spaniard prepares for the transfer window to open. With that said, football.london takes a look at the latest transfer rumours.

Serge Gnabry return

Arsenal are interested in a move for former winger Serge Gnabry, according to Christian Falk. The Germany international is entering his final year under contract at Bayern Munich, creating speculation over his future.

However, due to a lack of Champions League football, a move looks more likely in 2023, when he is a free agent.

Eddie Nketiah deal

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is set to sign a new deal at the club, according to the Daily Mail. The academy graduate has impressed towards the back end of the Premier League season, scoring five goals.

With his contract expiring this summer, a renewal is moving closer, with the report claiming that it will be a five-year deal. It comes as a huge boost to the Gunners, who were edging towards no senior first-team strikers going into the window.

Cody Gakpo problem

PSV are making an attempt to keep hold of winger Cody Gakpo this summer with a special financial package to ward off reported interest from Arsenal. According to Eindhovens Dagbald, via the Mirror, the Dutch side are looking to offer a wage bonus, and enticing contract promises to keep him at the club.
