Arsenal player ratings vs Tottenham: Odegaard the best player in the division right now; Ramsdale flawless

Arsenal moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League by beating Tottenham away from home for the first time since 2014.

The Gunners were excellent during the first-half, taking the lead through a Hugo Lloris own-goal before Martin Odegaard doubled their lead.

Spurs, as they have done in recent weeks, improved after the break and Arsenal had to dig in to weather the storm.

But Mikel Arteta’s side held firm to take full advantage of second-place Manchester City losing to their rivals United on Saturday.

Simon Collings was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see Arsenal in action...

Aaron Ramsdale - 9 | Star player

Made four huge saves, two of them from Harry Kane, during the course of the 90 minutes as he put in his best performance of the season. So neat and tidy all game, didn’t spill anything.

Ben White - 7

Looked a threat going forward as he bombed on to get outside of Saka. Did well defensively too and managed to keep Heung-min Son relatively quiet.

William Saliba - 8

He enjoyed a great north London derby back in October and the Frenchman had another fine afternoon here. Barely put a foot wrong all game.

Gabriel - 8

The Brazilian has been so consistent since the restart and he did well today. Strong in the air and on the deck too, particularly when Spurs started the second-half well.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - 8

The Ukraine international has become a vital part of this Arsenal side and you can see why. Just so calm on the ball and settled the Gunners down early on.

Martin Odegaard - 9

In the form of his career right now and he is arguably the best player in the Premier League at the moment. Took his goal so well and ran the game in the first-half. A captain’s performance.

Thomas Partey - 8

Given far too much time by Tottenham to dictate things at the base of midfield. Was so composed on the ball and switched play well. Hit the post with a great volley.

Granit Xhaka - 7

A lot of his work flew under the radar but he had a good game. Was the glue to Arsenal’s midfield and helped them get a foothold in the game.

Bukayo Saka - 9

Gave Ryan Sessegnon a torrid afternoon at left wing-back. Assisted both of the Arsenal goals during a brilliant performance. Could easily have been man of the match.

Eddie Nketiah - 7

A big performance from the striker, who continues to impress as he fills in for Gabriel Jesus. His hold-up play and link-play was excellent. Did miss a good chance to make it 3-0.

Gabriel Martinelli - 7

Probably the quietest of Arsenal’s front-three, but he still put in a solid display. Made a few bright darting runs that relieved pressure during the second-half.

Substitutions

Kieran Tierney (Martinelli 79’) - N/A

Takehiro Tomiyasu (Zinchenko 86’) - N/A

Fabio Vieira (Odegaard 90’) - N/A
