Aaron Ramsdale – 6
In a game that Arsenal dominated, you want your goalkeeper to remain alert and risk-free. Yet in his only real time on the ball in the first half, Aaron Ramsdale played a risky pass akin to the mistake made against Southampton and the Gunners again lost possession but avoided the same fate.
A couple of calm saves at the end saved a score of a five, but perhaps Ramsdale was more a victim of having little to do this game.
Ben White – 6
There’s perhaps an argument that a good team performance covered up one of Ben White’s weaker games. Raheem Sterling got the better of the Arsenal right-back on one too many occasions and not just with his pace, but physically too.

On a positive note, White was able to provide support to Bukayo Saka well, and overlapped the winger on numerous occasions.
Jakub Kiwior – 7
The focus of football.london’s dedicated scout report, Jakub Kiwior came into the side and looked far more assured than his first start away at Sporting CP. He took Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the game despite the former Arsenal man choosing to target him and his anticipation shone throughout the fixture.
Gabriel Magalhães – 7
The most consistent man in the Arsenal squad this season perhaps? Yes, there were wobbles at the beginning of the season but besides a couple of low-profile errors Gabriel Magalhaes has been a dependable presence in the Gunners’ squad.
Tonight was no different as he controlled the back line brilliantly. Progressing play with his passing and being an aerial threat in the box too.
Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7
Oleksandr Zinchenko began the game like he’d been in recent fixtures, misplacing some passes and losing possession. However, as Arsenal grew in confidence, so did he and his involvement in the first two goals was sensational.
The internal passes completely bamboozled the Chelsea midfield and created wide-open spaces for the forward players to dart through. His defending looked to improve as the game went on but for Chelsea’s goal he completely lost track of Noni Madueke.
Jorginho – 7
Dropping Thomas Partey was always going to raise eyebrows but the Ghanaian simply has not been good enough these past couple games. It was the right choice, and the calming presence of the former Chelsea man against his old club showed where it was lacking against Man City and Southampton.
Granit Xhaka – 8
Involved in both of Arsenal’s first two goals setting up his club captain. Xhaka presented with his usual imperiousness and despite the lack of the mobile Partey, his partnership with Jorginho didn’t appear to make the side feel slow as the movement of the ball was so good.
Martin Odegaard – 8
The centre of everything, a return to form. Great finish after a cross from Xhaka, a show of composure. For the second goal, popping up in the same area again with what was effectively a carbon copy of the first.
Leandro Trossard – 7
Taken off far too early for my liking. It’s impossible not to enjoy what Leandro Trossard brings to this Arsenal team.
The skill, the technical ability in tight spaces and something always feels like it is going to happen when he is on the ball. Mikel Arteta needs to find a way to get the Belgian into his starting eleven on a regular occasion.
Bukayo Saka – 8
Always a threat, and showed nothing of the tiredness perhaps some have suggested he’s been suffering from of late. His pace came to the fore in this game and he even showed some aerial threat with a header that Kepa could only parry away.
Gabriel Jesus - 7
It is these games where it shows why Gabriel Jesus needs to start every game for Arsenal at this moment in time. His desire, running and readiness to out-battle his opponents gives the Gunners a great tenacity to the centre of the park.
His goal came from this very determination as he found himself in the right place at the right time to score. What Chelsea were thinking though was another matter entirely.
Substitutions
Gabriel Martinelli – 6
Gabriel Martinelli has a good record against Chelsea, with his run from the halfway line at Stamford Bridge being branded into the memories of both team’s supporters.
And despite looking threatening on occasion, was unable to be more than just a theoretical threat tonight.
Reiss Nelson - 6
Again looked bright coming on, good on the ball and more reason a contract extension might be the right move.
Kieran Tierney – 6
Filled in for Oleksandr Zinchenko well and looked calm when under pressure.
Thomas Partey – n/a
Not on long enough for a score.
Rob Holding – n/a
Not on long enough for a score.
