Arsenal player rating vs Brighton as Foord stars, Blackstenius impresses and Mead scores twice

Manuella Zinsberger: Barely worked, particularly after the red card, but on the rare occasions she was tested, did well to stop Brighton from getting a goal that would have been totally against the run of play. 7.

Laura Wienroither: Rewarded for her fine form in the Euros and did not disappoint with a solid performance down the right. Helped support the attack well and was defensively sound. 7.

Leah Williamson: So composed on the ball throughout even if she didn't have too much to do. Positionally excellent to help Arsenal keep their dominance up in the entire game. 8.

Rafaelle: Was a threat from set pieces and may well have scored twice on another day. May have wanted to deal with Brighton's limited counter attacks down her side a little better, but that's really nit picking in a fine display. 7.

Katie McCabe: Got forward well to support Caitlin Foor down the left, but was found a touch lacking with her delivery on the evening. 7.

Lia Walti: Kept the game ticking over nicely at the base of the midfield. Positionally very good and may even have scored if not for a fine save from Walsh. 7.

Kim Little: Popped up with the opening goal after a fine piece of footwork in the box as a highlight to an excellent captain's display. Set the tone with her impeccable economy in possession. 8.

Beth Mead: Struggled a bit in the first half with a few loose touches but kept going and was eventually rewarded for her perseverance with a goal. Popped up with another before the end to stake an early claim for this season's golden boot. 8.

Vivianne Miedema: New season, same Miedema as she proved to be the creative hub of the Arsenal side yet again. Excellent on the ball throughout with some top quality assists to boot. 8.

Caitlin Foord: The Gunners' biggest threat throughout the early part of the match and ultimately broke the brave Brighton resistance via some excellent dribbling in the build up to Little's goal. 8.

Stina Blackstenius: Caused Brighton all manner of problems after forcing Emma Kullberg to take her down following some excellent movement. Eventually got her goal which will surely be the first of many this season. 8.

Substitutes -

Lina Hurtig: Nearly scored with her first competitive touch for Arsenal. Looked a good addition to the Gunners' front line down the left with some impressive delivery. 7.

Steph Cately: Did well after coming on to support the attack when she could. Might have gone down for a penalty after a shove in the box. 7.

Jordan Nobbs: Lovely to see her back after another injury layoff. Nearly capped it with a goal but saw her effort tipped onto the bar. 7.

Frida Maanum: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.

Lotte Wubben-Moy: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
