Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke toasted his Denver Nuggets side's maiden Western Conference championship win this week.
The Nuggets swept a LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers side 4-0 in their best-of-seven series to set up a debut appearance in the NBA Finals. The Boston Celtics or Miami Heat await the Nuggets, who have a red-hot Nikola Jokic in their ranks with the Serb in the midst of a record play-off run after signing his 'supermax' $264m new contract with the club last year.
Kroenke saw his Arsenal side come up short in their Premier League title battle with Manchester City but is on the verge of success with the Nuggets, having seen his Colorado Avalanche ice hockey side win the Stanley Cup last year and the LA Rams win the 2021 Super Bowl. "We've got work to do, but this is a nice start," Kroenke told The Denver Post after the Nuggets' 113-111 win in LA.

"If we all knew the team was always going to go out and win, it wouldn’t be any fun." Kroenke's son, Josh, agreed with his father.
The Arsenal co-chair added: "That’s true, but if you knew the team was going to win it sure would relieve some of the anxiety." The Nuggets will be the primary focus of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment's focus over the next month or so but there is plenty of work to be done across the sports empire, not least at Arsenal where Mikel Arteta wants to upgrade his midfield.
After mounting a title charge for the first time under Arteta, Arsenal are back in the Champions League after a six-year absence and want West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice to lead them into Europe's premier competition. Rice is a target for Arsenal as well as Brighton & Hove Albion central midfielder Moises Caicedo.
