Arsenal ‘offered’ chance to complete much-needed transfer after deadline day as talks planned

Arsenal have reportedly been given the chance to add to their attacking options after the transfer window has shut having been offered the opportunity to sign former Porto striker Ze Luis.

The Cape Verde international is currently a free agent having departed former employers Lokomotiv Moscow during the January transfer window - meaning he is free to pen a contract with any interested party.

Whilst it has not been confirmed that Arsenal are eyeing a move, they have apparently been offered the opportunity of taking Luis to the Emirates Stadium.

According to TEAMtalk, the Gunners have the option of signing him on a deal until the end of the season with the club’s current striking options having dwindled during the January transfer window.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bid farewell to the Emirates Stadium as he sealed a move to Spanish giants Barcelona, whilst academy graduate Folarin Balogun was allowed to join Championship outfit Middlesbrough on a season-long loan.

Those options could be set to take a further hit this summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah approaching the ends of their respective contracts.

football.london understands that the Frenchman is set to hold pre-contract talks with former club Lyon, whilst Nketiah is being eyed by the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ze Luis then could come in as an extremely late option with the transfer window having closed five days ago.

Now 31-years-old, he has netted 92 goals in 281 games in all competitions having represented the likes of Spartak Moscow, FC Porto, SC Braga and many more.

He had only made three appearances for Lokomotiv this season before his release in January.

Arsenal signing the striker would certainly be a surprising turn of events considering his previous links with north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Ze Luis was reportedly close to signing for Spurs in January 2020 but a deal failed to come to fruition.
