Arsenal news: Wenger feelings clear on Man City charge as wonderkid backed for exit

Arsenal will be aiming to take another step towards their first Premier League title since 2004 this week.

The Gunners take on Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and could potentially go eight points clear at the top of the table should Manchester City lose once more. Speaking of Pep Guardiola’s men, many in North London will be looking over to the Etihad Stadium after they were charged by the Premier League with 100 breaches of financial rules.

One of those to have seemingly shared their thoughts are legendary Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger. With all of that being said, take a look at all of the news coming out of the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours:

Wenger’s Man City charge stance revealed

Whilst Wenger has not responded to the latest news coming out of Man City, he is unlikely to have much sympathy for the reigning Premier League champions. Speaking in 2020, he previously joked that the side had ‘bought all of my players’.

The Frenchman swiftly added: "I think this is a deep question, sport is to win by respecting the rules, that's what it is all about. We celebrate the best in every sport, but we want to know that they respect the rules.

"If there is no respect for the rules, then it is not real sport so I think that is what's most important, the rules exist so you have to respect them. Once you go into a competition, you sign in by agreeing to accept the rules.”

Arsenal sent Declan Rice message

Kieran Trippier believes England teammate Declan Rice is better than Thomas Partey and Casemiro as the West Ham star continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal.

“As defenders you appreciate like me you appreciate the likes of Michael Carrick or Declan, it makes your job easier, they’re just mopping everything up,” the Newcastle defender said.

"Don’t get me wrong, Casemiro, the trophies he’s won - the [five] Champions Leagues - of course he’s a world-class player, but if you’re talking right now, Dec is incredible, he’s got the age as well."

Balogun backed for Gunners exit

Having outscored Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in Ligue 1 this season, it would go without saying that academy graduate Folarin Balogun would be very useful at the Emirates Stadium in the future. However, he may never return to North London from his spell with Reims.

According to reports, Mikel Arteta remains unsure over whether the youngster has a role in his future plans. His loan club attempted to sign him on a permanent deal in January only to see that request very swiftly rejected by Arsenal.
