Arsenal: Mikel Arteta walks out of Sky Sports interview after Premier League title question

Mikel Arteta left a post-match interview early following Arsenal’s drew with Manchester United.

The Gunners slipped 15 points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table after leaving Old Trafford with only a point.

Arsenal drew 1-1 with United following another laboured attacking display. Arteta’s side dominated most of the first-half but failed to score before Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead with a clever free-kick.

Declan Rice would sweep home a fine finish after the break but it was another frustrating outing for Arsenal, who failed to substantially build on Tuesday night’s huge 7-1 victory against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Arteta has consistently been asked if Arsenal’s lack of a recognised central striker is the reason they are so far behind Liverpool.

While the Gunners are their closest challengers, all of Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea have scored more than Arsenal in the League this season (52).

Though certainly not a new subject of debate, Arteta brushed aside a question about the striking situation when asked by Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison.

“No. It’s not about that,” was Arteta’s response as he began to walk away. Davison then added: “Mikel, one more [question]? I have to ask you about the title race because it’s 15 points now.”

Arteta replied “no” while walking away. Davison asked: “Is it too much?”, to which the Arsenal boss simply replied “thanks”.
