Arsenal man 'joins Nottingham Forest' following key departure

Arsenal physiotherapist Simon Murphy has reportedly joined Nottingham Forest this summer to become the club's new head physio.

Murphy had been at the north London club for just a single season and is already familiar with the East Midlands. Before moving to the capital, the physio spent seven-and-a-half years working with the first-team at Leicester City.

Shorter stints were also spent with Mansfield Town and Derby County's academy. Murphy also studied at the University of Nottingham as an undergraduate, becoming a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy before continuing his studies in London at Queen Mary University to advance to a Master of Science in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

This move, as reported by Training Ground Guru, is set to see Steve Cooper's backroom staff bolstered after the departure of Neil Simms, who became Southampton's lead performance physio earlier this summer. That departure was one of two physios to leave the City Ground in recent months, with Luis Pinho joining Tottenham Hotspur less than a year after arriving from Sheffield Wednesday. First team physios Dimitris Kaplanis, Mark Devonshire and Niall Stevens all also make up the medical department that Murphy seems set to lead, according to the website.
