Reading have completed the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein on loan until the end of the current season.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper has played six times for the Gunners' Under-23s side this season in the Premier League 2 - keeping one clean sheet and conceding eight goals in the process.
Now, though, the decision to allow Hein to leave the Emirates Stadium on a short-term loan deal has been taken, with the opportunity to get first-team football in the Championship seemingly a fantastic offer for all parties.
Speaking on the confirmed signing, Reading boss Veljko Paunovic said: "Karl is an international goalkeeper with good temperament, obvious ability and the hunger to improve and impress.
"He is a welcome addition to our squad and will increase the strength of our team for our remaining fixtures this season."
What does this mean for Arsenal?
At the moment, Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is in fine form and does not look like he will be replaced in between the posts anytime soon.
Bernd Leno started the season as number one, but the German has dropped down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium. football.london understands Leno wants to leave the club in the coming days, with Newcastle United interested in a loan deal until the end of the season.
It's also understood that New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner is a target for the north Londoners, who are working on a deal to bring the 27-year-old to the club.
Arsenal do have 20-year-old goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo at their disposal and should Leno leave, the young shot-stopper could be an option for Arteta on the bench.
However, this would leave Arsenal short in the goalkeeper department, so if they could bring Turner in, then this would be the ideal option for the north London club.
