Arsenal make major kit mistake with new home shirt missing key detail infuritating fans

Arsenal fans think that they have spotted a massive mistake on the club's new home shirt for the 2023/24 season.

After being unveiled to supporters in May following months of leaks and concept designs doing the rounds, the golden outlined top has gone down a treat so far. Paying homage to the Invincibles, 20 years on from their record-breaking and so-far unmatched run of going the whole season unbeaten, the gilded edges are there as an ode to the great 2003/04 side.

"Our new kit draws on the spirit of The Invincibles team of 2003/04, marking the beginning of the 20th anniversary of our unbeaten Premier League season," a statement said on the club's official website. "Our crest and Adidas logo and three stripes down each sleeve feature in gold, and our record of 26 wins and 12 draws over 38 games in that historic season is stitched into the side of the authentic version of the kit.

"Twenty years on from that incredible achievement, we aim to carry forward the values, spirit and togetherness of the 2003/04 squad."

There had been a chance for much of the campaign that the golden celebratory additions would coincide with a remarkable and unexpected first title since the Invincible season, but a late drop off saw Mikel Arteta's side finish as runners-up instead.

However, they are still set to be kitted out in style next year with an early contender for one of the nicest home jerseys across the league. Having dazzled fans with their slick all-black away top last season, the standard has been set.

Despite this, the initial reaction to the shirt was overly positive. It also has a 100% win record for the team after it was worn in the 5-0 victory over Wolves on the last day of the season at the Emirates Stadium. Upon closer inspection, though, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a mistake.

Twitter user @arstaoly pointed out that the sleeve stitching with the results of the 38-game league season are missing six of the unbeaten matches. With a succession of Ws and Ds to commemorate the 26 wins and 12 draws throughout the campaign, it has been realised that the full list of results are not there.

It has been worked out that the final four games of the season are missing as well as two wins from a nine-game streak in the middle of the season. It is also not just a sizing issue, with several fans reporting back similar issues on tops ranging from extra large to small.
