Arsenal have decided to build a statue in tribute of former manager Arsene Wenger outside the Emirates Stadium, according to the Telegraph. The report claims that the 73-year-old could be immortalised outside the ground as early as next year, following his return to the club to watch them play.
The Frenchman hadn't been back at the north London club since he left back in 2018, with his era being something of a mooted topic in that time. Mikel Arteta's rise to the top with the Gunners has since brought up plenty more discussions surrounding Wenger and the football club.
The former manager predicted them to be involved in the title picture, telling beIN Sports earlier this season: "[Arsenal are] the second-best team to have a good chance to win the Premier League because Man City at some stage will focus highly on the Champions League."

There was also talk of a potential return in some capacity, to which Arteta claimed he would welcome any role for Wenger. "I would love to [see him back], I think he has explained it. I think he has every window, every door in this football club open whenever he is ready and whenever he feels is the right moment to do so," said the Spaniard.
“He knows that from my side and he knows that from many other people at the football club. And hopefully that will happen soon, because I think he will inspire and a lot of people are going to be so happy to see him back.”
It appears as though the manager of 22 years has moved closer to doing just that in making his first return to the club since he left. Wenger attended Arsenal's Boxing Day clash with West Ham, where the Gunners registered a 3-1 win in their return from the World Cup break.
A statue of Wenger would finally give Wenger his spot at the ground after countless trophies and some of the club's best years during his tenure.
