Kieran Tierney is expected to stay at Arsenal this summer, according to Football Scotland. It comes after the Scotland international was linked with a £50million move to Manchester City this summer.
The 25-year-old has been a key player for the Gunners since joining them in August 2019, holding down the left flank. However, Tierney struggled over the past campaign with injuries, missing 13 competitive fixtures for the side.
It left Mikel Arteta short on options at the back, with Nuno Tavares struggling in his first season at the club. This led to other choices having to be made, with Granit Xhaka and Takehiro Tomiyasu also playing there when called upon.

However, the importance of Tierney cannot be overstated, with his current deal lasting until 2026 after signing a new one last summer. Discussing the decision of offering a deal, Arteta said: “As manager of the club, speaking on behalf of the coaching staff and the entire staff, it’s a pleasure to work with KT.
“His quality, energy, commitment and professionalism, not only on matchdays, but every day in training are always at such a high level. KT gives us so much extra strength both defensively and offensively and it’s great to know that he’ll be with us for the long term.
“Since his move from Celtic, his work ethic and quality has ensured that he is already one of most exciting players in the Premier League and a hugely important part of our team, both on and off the pitch. I know all the fans will join me, the players and staff in looking forward to seeing KT playing in an Arsenal shirt for a few more years."
It shows that the Scotland international is highly valued, even despite his injuries and dip in form.
