Arsenal make £80m summer transfer decision as Mikel Arteta and Edu eye signings

Arsenal are tracking Benfica striker Darwin Nunez ahead of a potential summer move, football.london understands. The 22-year-old has scored 26 goals in 33 games this season, including the winning strike in the recent Champions League last-16 win over Ajax.

Gunners technical director Edu is in contact with the representatives of Nunez and has shortlisted the Uruguayan forward as a potential summer signing.

However, Nunez remains one of several striker profiles that the Gunners are monitoring ahead of the transfer window.

Tammy Abraham, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alexander Isak and Jonathan David are all admired by certain figures within Arsenal.

football.london revealed in January that Edu had met with the agent of Canada striker David, who is currently one of the most sought-after prospects in European football.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both set to leave Arsenal in the summer, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed the club during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Bernd Leno is being targeted by teams in the Bundesliga ahead of an expected summer departure from Arsenal, football.london understands.

Leno, 29, has struggled to nail down the first spot in Mikel Arteta's starting XI this season, with Aaron Ramsdale having displaced the Germany international as the first choice at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man is wanted by his old team, while Newcastle also hold interest in the experienced shot stopper. Leno made a rare start for Arsenal in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, replacing the injured Ramsdale.

Arsenal signed goalkeeper Matt Turner from New England Revolution in the January transfer window. Turner has already won 13 international caps with the USA and will come in as Ramsdale's understudy from next season.
