Arsenal have submitted a £20m bid in an attempt to sign Brazilian midfielder Danilo from Palmeiras. Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in another midfielder before the transfer deadline following injuries to Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey.
Partey is currently nursing a thigh injury, while Elneny sustained an issue with his hamstring during Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday.
Arsenal will be without the pair as they aim to win their first five matches in a Premier League season for the first time since 2004.
Goal claim that the Gunners submitted a bid for Danilo on Tuesday, although Palmeiras are expected to reject Arsenal's proposal. The 21-year-old missed Palmeiras' 1-0 defeat against Athletico Paranaense in the Copa Libertadores semi-final first leg earlier today due to suspension.
Danilo has been a key figure for Palmeiras since breaking into the first team in 2019 and has amassed 128 appearances for Verdão - scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists.
He was heavily involved in Palmeiras' back-to-back triumphs in the Copa Liberatores - featuring in their final victories over Santos and Flamengo in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
Danilo also won the Bronze Ball for the third best player at the 2021 World Club Cup as Palmeiras lost 2-1 against Chelsea after extra-time in Abu Dhabi.
His performances earned him his first call-up for the Brazilian national team in June, although he is still yet to feature for A Seleção.
The midfielder, who started his career in the Brazilian second-tier at PFC Cajazeiras, has a contract that runs until December 2026 with his current club.
However, if Arsenal manage to prise him away from Palmeiras, he will join a Brazilian contingent of Marquinhos, Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus in North London.
