Arsenal loanee gives glowing verdict as Mikel Arteta's Gabriel Jesus transfer has 'changed club'

Arsenal's impressive start to the Premier League season has seen Mikel Arteta use the same core group of players for every game. William Saliba, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli are just a few names who have featured in every game, with all three surpassing the expectations placed on them at the start of the season.

Saliba has excelled with dominating displays at the back helping the Gunners keep four Premier League clean sheets. Xhaka has reinvigorated his Arsenal career with several composed midfield displays, and Martinelli continues to be a lethal part of the Gunners devastating front four.

While all three have performed to a very high standard, Arsenal defender Pablo Mari, who is currently on loan at AC Monza has highlighted one of the club's summer signings that left him amazed - even going as far as predicting he would change the club.

Mari told Play Futbol (via El Desmarque): "In a week of training, what I had seen from Gabriel Jesus is a real bomb. He does everything well. I was amazed.

"I already thought that Arsenal was going to change with him and I was not wrong. Gabriel Jesus has made it very complicated for me. I was lucky enough to have him as a partner for a month or two and we talked about it. He laughed."

The Brazilian forward has made a brilliant start to life in north London scoring five Premier League goals from 11 appearances. Of course the main job of a striker is to score goals but Jesus' overall contribution to the Gunners should not be overlooked with his superb ability to navigate through tight situations and crowded areas creating several chances for his teammates.

However, the 25-year-old has not scored in his last five appearances and has been culpable of missing some chances, in particular during the 1-1 draw against Southampton with Sofascore also noting that the Brazilian has missed eight big chances this season.

Despite his goal-scoring drought, he has not lost the faith of his manager who, in his Southampton post-match press conference, alluded to Jesus always being in the correct places.

Arteta said: "Knowing Gabi, he's disappointed when he scores two goals and could have scored three or four, so he can do that. But he has the chances, and he's always there. He gives so much to the team, and it's a shame he couldn't put them away today."
