Arsenal loan watch: Nuno Tavares makes Lazio comeback with Fabio Vieira turning corner at Porto

Arsenal entertained Manchester United and travelled to Fulham last week as they try to keep pace with Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

It is a busy time of the season for the Gunners and the same goes for several of their loan players, who were in action as well.

Standard Sport brings the latest from Arsenal’s loanees and when those who weren’t in action might be seen again…

Fabio Vieira

Now started six of Porto’s last seven games and appears to have turned a corner after a slow start back at his old club.

Completed 81 minutes on Saturday in Porto’s 1-1 draw at Famalicao before being taken off.

Arsenal are reportedly open to selling the midfielder after his loan this season, which means he is in the shop window now and must impress.

Nuno Tavares

Back in action for Lazio after a few weeks out with a hamstring injury, Tavares started and completed 89 minutes in Sunday’s win over Napoli.

The left-back helped his side keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Antonio Conte’s side. Tavares has been in fine form this season, earning a call-up to the Portugal squad last month, and he will hope to get back to his best now back fit.

Karl Hein

In goal for Real Valladolid’s LaLiga defeat by Las Palmas on Saturday. An improved performance from the 5-0 drubbing to Atletico Madrid the week before, but Valladolid still slipped to a 2-1 loss.

Reiss Nelson

Was unable to play for Fulham this weekend as he is on loan from Arsenal and Premier League rules forbid loanees playing against their parent club.

Nelson is also struggling with a hamstring injury that he picked up against Brighton last Thursday in Fulham’s 3-1 win.

The winger lasted 71 minutes against Brighton before he had to come off and he is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Liverpool.

Albert Sambi Lokonga

Came off with four minutes left of Sevilla’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna on December 2 - and has not played since.

Lokonga missed Sevilla’s 3-1 win at Olot in the Copa del Rey on Thursday and the 4-3 defeat at Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

The Belgian is understood to be suffering from a groin injury and is undergoing more tests this week to see how long he will be out.

Charles Sagoe Jr

Made his first appearance in about a month over the weekend. Came off the bench for the final 13 minutes of Shrewsbury’s 4-1 defeat to Cambridge in League One.

His last game before that was all the way back on November 12.

Marquinhos

Was not in the Fluminense squad for either of their two wins last week. His last appearance for them was on November 26.
