Jack Wilshere will be a “fantastic” addition to Arsenal’s academy, according to club legend Steve Bould.
Former Gunners player and coach Bould, 59, has detailed what the Under-18s will gain from Wilshere after he retired from playing to take up the position of head coach.
“I’m close to Jack and he’s fantastic,” Bould told the Mail.
“People forget about how intelligent he is. He’s a smart boy, quiet, but he’s a lot more studious than people imagine. He loves the club and he’s only got good intentions for the kids there.
“I’m sure he’ll do a great job.”
Bould worked for two decades behind the scenes at Arsenal, including a spell as Arsene Wenger’s assistant. Now the boss of Belgian side Lommel, he discussed his exit from the club last year.
“I always look out for the Arsenal because you know what it’s like — once you’ve been associated with them, it’s hard not to,” he continued.
“I love the club. I’ve got nothing to moan about whatsoever. It happens to a lot of people.
“It’s part of football. You’re always going to get removed at some stage somewhere. Honestly, Martin, there’s no bitterness whatsoever. People have opinions and that’s what they do, so there’s no issue.”
