Arsenal have unveiled their new kit for next season and it contains a nod to one of the club's most famous ever sides.
At once, the first thing that stands out is the eye-catching gold detail. The latest Adidas logo, the instantly recognisable three stripes, the sleeve branding and the lightning bolt on the back of the neck are all given the golden touch.
The other noticeable element of the top is the lightning bolt emblem that runs through the heart of the strip, which is a nod to the beloved Arsenal shirts of the mid 1990's. However, Adidas say the biggest inspiration for the shirt was Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles side, the team that, still to this day, are the only Premier League side to remain unbeaten for a whole season.
Adidas say: "They say lightning never strikes twice. And 20 years on, the Gunners remain the only club to finish an English top-flight football season undefeated."
Quite strikingly, for the players authentic version of the top, the kit also has a unique feature with the 2003/2004's record, 26 wins and 12 draws, printed on the frame of the shirt. Adidas said: "This adidas Arsenal authentic jersey celebrates a unique anniversary with lightning bolts, gold details and the team's entire 03/04 record printed around the frame."
The women's team will wear the new kit tomorrow while Arteta's side will sport the shirt when they take on Wolves in the final Premier League game of the season on Sunday. The new shirt will be available from Monday, June 12 and you can pre-order it now on the Arsenal website and Fanatics.
