Arsenal in talks with Atalanta over Nuno Tavares loan as Mikel Arteta seeks to trim squad after transfer spree

Arsenal are in talks with Atalanta over a loan exit for left-back Nuno Tavares.

After spending big in the transfer market this summer once again, the Gunners are looking to trim their squad over the coming weeks.

They are in discussions with Atalanta over a move for Nuno, who could struggle for minutes this season now that Oleksandr Zinchenko has arrived at Emirates Stadium.

Zinchenko, who can also play in midfield, will provide competition to Kieran Tierney at left-back and it means chances for Nuno are likely to be limited.

Atalanta have been alerted to the situation and want to take him to Serie A on loan for the 2022/23 season.

Marseille and Real Sociedad have both also been interested in Nuno, but Atalanta are now viewed as the favourites to complete a deal.

The 22-year-old is open to a move, provided it gives him the opportunity to gain experience and play regularly this season.
