Arsenal identify new goalkeeper for January transfer as Arthur Melo makes Gunners decision

Arsenal's loss in the Carabao Cup against Liverpool has handed further issues to Mikel Arteta, with Thomas Partey now suspended for the Premier League clash against Burnley after he was sent off after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The return of the Ghana midfielder had initially provided a boost to the Gunners' depleted ranks but his suspension, with Granit Xhaka also sidelined, highlights the ongoing issues in north London.

January business has so far orientated around outgoing deals and, while that is set to continue, there's also a significant push for new signings.

ESPN states Arsenal have identified New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner as the ideal signing this month to replace Bernd Leno.

The German has expressed a desire to leave, with Newcastle United among those to have made an approach, and Arsenal will allow an exit if they land a replacement.

Elsewhere, Arsenal's hopes of signing Arthur Melo this month have been given a boost according to reports from Italy cited by Sport Witness.

Meetings between the player's agent and Arsenal are said to have 'went well', while it's added Arthur 'wants to go to Arsenal'.

Finally, One player that could be on the way out is former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Mail stating Saudi club Al Hilal are keen to sign the player and will pay the entirety of his wages.

That loan deal would include a permanent option for the summer but it's clear the battle for Aubameyang's services are attracting a number of suitors.

Sky Sports states AC Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have enquired about his availability this month and could make a move to secure his services.
