Arsenal icon makes bold Thomas Tuchel claim amid Chelsea manager's link to Man United

Former Arsenal icon Emmanuel Petit has admitted that he does not always understand Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel's tactical decisions amid the ongoing debate about the best manager in the Premier League involving Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola. The former midfielder also claimed that Tuchel would not be able to handle the pressure if he moved to Old Trafford to take over Manchester United amid recent links to the club.

During his time in charge of the west Londoners, Tuchel has won trophies already and is currently steering the club through some choppy waters during the uncertainty surrounding the takeover. His impeccable run of getting to nearly every final he has entered so far in his rein shows just how much the current Blues squad have adapted and taken to his methods, and despite some troubles, such as the form of Romelu Lukaku, unlike many recent Chelsea managers, he has so far been able to keep the players on side.

With a Champions League title and a FIFA Club World Cup trophy to his name, it was no surprise to see Man United linked with a move amid the uncertainty at Stamford Bridge. However, it looks as if they will now move for either Erik ten Hag or Mauricio Pochettino. While Petit concedes that Tuchel has done well at Chelsea, he says the boss would not be able to handle the pressure at Old Trafford.

"His spell at Chelsea started brilliantly with winning the Champions League," Petit reflected to gentingcasino.com. "I think he’s a very good manager, but sometimes, tactically,, you don’t understand what he’s doing because against Brentford I didn’t understand his tactics.

"You can see he’s having trouble with some players and it’s normal in the dressing room during the season, but when it happens [with Tuchel] it stays for weeks and months between the players. Can someone explain to me what’s going on between Tuchel and Romelu Lukaku? I don’t understand it.

"Tuchel could go to Manchester United, but when things start to be difficult, you can see that he changes. He has some difficulties handling the pressure sometimes. With Manchester United, the pressure would be higher there than at Chelsea.

"That could be an option, but I’m not really convinced by that. Manchester United need someone who can unite the dressing and I’m not sure Tuchel is a better manager to maximise and get a different mentality into that dressing room."
