Arsenal have held positive contract talks with Ben White as they continue to work on tying down the core players of their squad.
The Gunners have made contract renewals for key players a major priority under Mikel Arteta and over the past 12 months they have secured the futures of several stars.
Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba have all signed new deals.
Arsenal are now turning their attention to White, who has been one of the side’s most consistent performers since joining from Brighton for £50million in 2021.
The defender still has just under three years to run on his current contract but, as has been the case with other key players, there is an acceptance he should be rewarded for his fine form.
White joined Arsenal as a centre-back and played there during his first season at the club, but he has since been shifted to right-back. The 26-year-old has excelled there and his relationship with Bukayo Saka on the right flank has been key to Arsenal’s success.
White is regarded as one of the best trainers at the club and Mikel Arteta is a big fan his.
“I think he’s been a very consistent player for us,” Arteta said earlier this month. “I think he’s been always developing for us.
“I think he’s got the character of a proper fighter and a character that we need in the squad, especially at this level, and I’m really happy for that.”
