Arsenal hit with Tammy Abraham problem as Mikel Arteta continues summer transfer overhaul

Arsenal have been hit with a hurdle in their attempts to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to overhaul his side ahead of the new campaign.

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have left the Emirates in the past six months, leaving the Gunners light on options in the final third. Eddie Nketiah has signed a new contract but Arteta is expected to add at least one more high-profile name to his ranks.

Gabriel Jesus appears to be the closest to sealing a move to the Emirates, with Manchester City willing to let the Brazilian leave before he enters the final year of his contract. The Gunners have had a £30 million bid rejected but they are expected to return with another closer to the £50 million asking price.

Another name to be linked with a move is former Chelsea striker Abraham. The England forward has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign with Roma in Serie A, scoring 17 times in 37 appearances, earning him plaudits back in the Premier League. After their final game of the season he was asked about his future.

"I love this club," Abraham said to DAZN, via GOAL. "They have given me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We'll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.

"Like I've always said, I fell in love with this club from the first day and I will always help the team as much as possible with my goals and assists. It's been a good year for me, I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year."

But according to a report from Corriere Dello Sport, Arsenal may face an unexpected obstacle in getting the deal done. They report that Abraham's agent, Neil Fewings, currently receives £345,000 for every transfer window Abraham stays at the club.

It means that Arsenal are faced with two possible challenges. Either tempting Arbaham and his agent to leave this lucrative arrangement or finding the money to take it on themselves.
