Arsenal highlighted ‘Aaron Ramsdale problem’ in Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario

Arsenal “did their homework” on Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and highlighted how he “gets too involved with players around him” at corners, according to Gunners legend David Seaman.

Vicario was left rooted to his line as Spurs conceded from another set-piece when Gabriel scored the winner in last weekend’s 1-0 north London derby defeat to Arsenal.

Seaman has also compared Vicario to former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who struggled with similar problems during his time at the Gunners.

Seaman told Betway’s Seaman Says podcast: “I loved that we'd done our homework on Vicario again.

“You could tell that he was getting too involved in what was around him before the ball came in, and he did that in last season's game. With this goal, he gets too involved with the players around him.

“Actually, the players that were around him in this game were his own players, whereas last time Ben White did a great number on him and blocked him. But this time it was his own players, and he didn't even come out to a ball that he should have been coming out to at least punch, if not catch.”

Seaman added: “It's been highlighted before and he needs to address that. He needs to be a lot calmer, and not get involved. Aaron [Ramsdale] was doing that, not last season but the season before, and we were like: ‘Don't get involved with that too much because you'll end up out of position when the ball comes in. You'll be too busy pushing someone, and then you're out of position.”’

“I still say to the lads at Arsenal, if somebody's going to be coming in on you like that, take them away to somewhere where you don't want to be when the ball's delivered, and then as the guy's approaching to take the corner, move back into your position.

“Then it's so obvious to the referee that the guy might be trying to block you or hold you. It’s just the little things that you could be doing, but I don't want to give Vicario too much information!”
