Arsenal head for Leeds United after reminder of unwanted Premier League record

Leeds United know they face the toughest test of the season this weekend as they host table topping Arsenal at Elland Road this weekend. The Gunners arrive in Yorkshire fresh off the back of a 3-2 win over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, a statement of intent from Mikel Arteta's side.

The Arsenal are one point clear at the top of the league, with Pep Guardiola's side hot on their heels and unbeaten so far this season with seven wins and two draws in their opening nine games. Arteta's side have won an impressive eight of their nine opening fixtures and have a favourable run of fixtures after the game against Jesse Marsch's side.

Manchester City remain the favourites for the Premier League title, with Erling Haaland breaking all kinds of records since his move from Borussia Dortmund. Interestingly, the last Premier League side to win their opening eight games from nine fixtures and not win the title were Arsenal back in 2007-08.

But, Leeds can have a big say in the early title race this weekend. City are set to face a scorned Liverpool side while Arsenal head to Elland Road looking for a repeat of last year's 4-1 win in December - a moment where the Whites looked destined for relegation.

Marsch will be hoping his avoid a repeat of that display whilst also impacting the title race so early on in the season - striking a blow to Arteta's title hopes.
