Arsenal have bid for perfect Ben White backup rejected as Edu told to pay £21.7m asking price

Mikel Arteta seems intent on further bolstering his options at right-back this summer despite the impressive performances of Ben White. Having faced plenty of criticism in his debut season for Arsenal, the 25-year-old defender has since become a stalwart in the club's backline.

White, who sees his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in 2026, has featured in every game for the Gunners in the Premier League this term, helping his side keep 13 clean sheets. While the England international may not have the most glamorous role in the starting lineup, his role has allowed Bukayo Saka to spearhead a title charge.

With Arteta eager to build upon the tremendous progress which has been made at London Colney, he's said to be in the market for a new right-back to keep White on his toes. The Spaniard is also preparing for the club's first Champions League campaign since 2016/17 so Arsenal will certainly need more legs next season.

According to Nevzat Dindar, Arsenal have submitted a €17million (£14.7million) bid to Galatasaray for Sacha Boey. The 22-year-old defender faces an increasingly uncertain future with the Turkish giants after publicly announcing his desire to leave last month.

The report states that Galatasaray are expected to hold out for €25million (£21.7million) and they're unwilling to let Boey leave for anything less. It's said that the Turkish outfit's vice-president, Erden Timur, travelled to London earlier this week to discuss a potential deal for the Frenchman.

Boey, who has two-years remaining on his deal in Istanbul, believes that it's time to take the next step in his career. Speaking to L'Equipe, he said: "I’ve experienced the lows and the highs [with Galatasaray]. My performance is consistent now. I think it’s time to turn a corner but we’ll see at the end of the season depending on what happens."

However, while Arsenal supporters may be excited by the prospect of Boey's arrival, football.london understands that Cedric Soares wants to stay in north London and fight for his place next season, following positive feedback from the club in recent times.

The 31-year-old would certainly provide valuable experience in the Champions League, though his intent to stay throws a spanner in the works of Arteta's rebuild.
