Arsenal have ‘agreed terms’ for midfielder as Edu ditches Vlahovic for late Calvert-Lewin bid

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Merson’s give verdict on Auba

Paul Merson has given his unfiltered response on Sky Sports to whether he thinks Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will play in an Arsenal shirt again, “I don’t. He left him out to dry. It is going to be some going for the lad to come back.

He added that it could even cost them Champions League football, “It could (cost them a top-four). But I don’t think Aubameyang is going to get them into the top-four, though.

“For me, pick your best players. I just think what has happened between the manager and him needs to be sorted out first.”

Juve in for Vlahovic

Arsenal have had a striker on their transfer agenda for some time now and Dusan Vlahovic is a name that pops up time and time again. The Fiorentina player though is sought after by a fair few clubs.

The Times have now reported that Arsenal’s bid to sign the Serbian international has ‘suffered a blow’ as Juventus put in a ‘competing offer’ for the players signature.

According to the paper, the Italian club have put in a higher offer than Fiorentina’s asking price of £21m for the forward.

Arsenal switch attention to Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal had hoped to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but with that deal dying the Gunners have turned their attention towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Any attempt to sign the Everton and England striker will not be made until the summer - and is certain to be strongly resisted by the Merseysiders, according to the Mirror.

With time running out for Edu and company to bring in a striker before the deadline, it looks as if the Gunners will have to settle for the Toffees hitman despite a drawn out pursuit for Vlahovic.

Arsenal close in on Melo

90min have reported that Arthur Melo has 'agreed on terms' with Arsenal for a loan move. The Brazilian midfielder has made his desire to leave for North London clear, but Juventus still need to give the go-ahead.

The offer is reported to be a loan until the end of the season, with the Seria A side said earlier to be unwilling to accept a short term loan deal. But, Arsenal are willing to pay the players wages in full.

Our take: Finally some good news for the Gunners who have been in dire need of reinforcements in the middle of the park.
