Arsenal handed potential Youri Tielemans transfer boost as Leicester eye wantaway Gunners star

Arsenal have been handed a potential transfer boost in negotiations to land midfielder Youri Tielemans from Leicester City this summer, if recent reports are to be believed. It comes as the Gunners look to continue their business in the market until the very closing moments.

Five signings were made before the start of the season, with over £100million spent to make those additions, but the focus has switched since. The squad has since been trimmed, with plenty of moves in recent weeks being fringe players leaving.

With just over one week left in the market before it closes, manager Mikel Arteta had his say on potential signings: "We don’t like reacting obviously, we want to get the players that we believe will make a big impact in the team. If we can do that, we will try to do that. If we cannot, we will stay with the players we have."

With a keen eye still on squad players leaving, the priority may be to shift them on before they can add new members, with Nicolas Pepe one of those linked with an exit. The Ivorian is yet to make an appearance this season, recently being left out of the squad against Bournemouth ahead of a proposed move.

While Ligue 1 side OGC Nice continue to be linked, there may be a surprise package eyeing a late transfer. That's because, according to Media Foot, Leicester City are eyeing a potential move to bolster their ranks.

Should that be the case, Arsenal could look to add to their squad by proposing a swap move, or some form of cash-plus-player deal, with TIelemans a long-term target for the Gunners.

The north London outfit are yet to make an official bid for the Belgian, but the reported interest could trigger a late ripple effect in discussions.
