Arsenal target Youri Tielemans has set a brand new deadline for a transfer decision to be made over a potential move in January, according to reports. The Belgian midfielder was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, but a move never materialised.
It could be a decision that comes back to hurt Mikel Arteta, with former Tottenham player Jermaine Jenas claiming Thomas Partey can't be relied on due to his injury issues. The Spaniard did try to sign another option for the central ranks though, but missed out on deadline day.
"The club has done a phenomenal job and put everything on the table to try to bring the players and the profiles we wanted," the manager said after the transfer window closed. "We did business pretty early but unfortunately in the last 72 hours, Thomas [Partey] got injured in the same place he got injured last time and then Mo [Mohamed Elneny] has a long-term injury and we had to react in the market.

"We tried but at the end of the day, we have to bring the player that we feel is the right player for the team and as well for the club and we didn't manage to do that."
The Spaniard may have been handed a reprieve though, as there are fewer games until the January transfer window compared to a regular season, thanks to the mid-season break for the World Cup. That could give the Gunners a chance to go back in for Tielemans, who will only have six-months remaining on his contract.
The 25-year-old has set a new date for his decision over a transfer, with Fabrizio Romano claiming in his CaughtOffside column that he will consider his options after the World Cup. It will give the midfielder at most until mid-to-late December to make a decision on a move in January.
