Arsenal handed new Bukayo Saka contract timeline as Mikel Arteta given huge William Saliba boost

This season has seen Arsenal take one huge step forward towards their ambitions of playing at the very highest level once again as their Premier League title push reinforces the early work done by Mikel Arteta and his staff. Whether they will lift the trophy at the end of the season remains to be seen, but with a young squad and confirmation of Champions League football next campaign, the journey is set to continue.

It means that the summer transfer window looks set to be a crucial one for the Gunners in reinforcing the squad to push for glory once again. While there is a focus on incomings with a few scattered exits, there is a desire for the side to keep hold of some of their biggest talent at the core of the squad.

Gabriel Martinelli has already signed a new contract in recent weeks to show his commitment to the cause, having impressed this season. "Obviously [technical director] Edu and the board are on top of every negotiation regarding new contracts and now we are doing everything we possibly can to do that in the right moment at the right time," Arteta said when quizzed on other contracts that could be renewed last week.

football.london understands that Arsenal are also set to extend the contracts of Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale in the coming weeks. There's also confidence regarding a new deal for William Saliba after a breakout season for the defender, further strengthening the core of the side for the future.

At this stage though, it appears to be a waiting game before anything is confirmed from the football club regarding the new deals. ESPN reports that Saka is likely to have his contract announced before the end of the season, which will be in the next three weeks or so.

It remains to be seen when Ramsdale and Saliba will be unveiled too, but for Arteta it could allow the focus to be shifted back on adding to the squad rather than concern over the future of some key stars.
